ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE DAY
Signs of the End of the Age
Romans 11:25b
...Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.
In Luke 21:20-24, Jesus speaks about the Signs of the End of the Age: "When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."
The first sign that "the times of the Gentiles" is coming to an end is the events that happen in and around Jerusalem. In our passage today, Paul goes on to tell us that Israel will continue to experience a hardening -- "until the full number of the Gentiles has come in". This second condition deals with the last person on earth to accept Jesus Christ. Both are precursors to the Rapture and will complete the Age of the Gentiles.
I believe that in 1967, when Israel regained control of Jerusalem, Jesus' prophecy was fulfilled. I might even go so far to say I think we are in the end, of end times, right now. The only event we await is (as Paul puts it): "the full number of Gentiles to come in." Maybe that's why I have such a heart for evangelical missions. Every time I go somewhere to witness I wonder, "Could this be the last Gentile on the earth?" Why? Because when the last person acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the fullness of the Gentiles will be complete. At that moment, the Church will be raptured. Are you ready?
If you are not saved, do us all a big favor and get saved. You might be the last one! If you got saved after 1967, aren't you glad the Lord didn't rapture the Church back then? I think we're in overtime right now. Do you have a family member or friend who hasn't professed their faith in Jesus? Don't wait. The time is near. The last person could be accepting Jesus as we speak!
