DISMAYED
WORD OF WISDOM
DISMAYED ~ Troubled
SOURCE: King James Bible
Isa 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
God speaks with tenderness; Fear thou not, for I am with thee: not only within call, but present with thee. Art thou weak? I will strengthen thee. Art thou in want of friends? I will help thee in the time of need. Art thou ready to fall? I will uphold thee with that right hand which is full of righteousness, dealing forth rewards and punishments. Do not look to each other in dismay.
God has a strong reserve with which to discharge this engagement; for He is able to do all things. Do not think not that the strength of man shall ever be able to overcome the power of God. The same God who directs the earth in its orbit, who feeds the burning furnace of the sun, and trims the lamps of heaven, has promised to supply thee with daily strength. He hangeth the world upon nothing; shall He who does this be unable to support his children?
For I am with thee. This is a solid foundation of confidence, and if it be fixed in our minds, we shall be able to stand firm and unshaken against temptations of every kind.
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.
I whom thou art obliged to obey: I who can carry thee through every thing I put thee upon: I of whose faithfulness and almighty power thou hast had large experience? No man's dignity or dominion sets him above the law of God. He is to encourage himself with the promise and presence of God.
Let not the sense of our own infirmities dishearten us; God is all-sufficient. I have commanded, called, and commissioned you to do it, and will be sure to bear you out in it. When we are in the way of duty, we have reason to be strong and very bold. Our Lord Jesus, as Joshua here, was borne up under His sufferings by a regard to the will of God, and the commandment from his Father.
Deu 31:8 And the LORD, he [it is] that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Signifying that man can never be of good courage, unless he is persuaded of God's favour and assistance. Heb 13:6 So that (with good courage) we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
God's Blessings to each of you,
