PREPARE
We here in the south are preparing for hurricane season. Do not forget a regular non-electric can opener! We are given lists of what to do and not do.
Personally my list starts with a tank full of gas. Many of us go through life forgetting to fill up with the Word. Like the tank of gas, if we intend to get anywhere with Christ, we need to tank up on His Word.
Just as we need that check list for hurricanes, it might be a good idea to make yourself a personal check list for Christ. Once we do something on a regular basis, it will become second nature. One thing to remember is not to let it become a habit. A habit can be done without thinking. We need to be alert and aware of our time with the Lord.
Pray about storms NOW. Get ahead of the season. Search out scriptures of protection and cover your home, this is something we should do anyway. Hurricanes are not the only thing that can come against your home. Cover and protect.
Remember be safe. Having faith in God should not be like the old story of the man on the roof during a storm. After turning away help numerous times he died. Getting to heaven he asked God why did You let me die. We all know the end of that story, he made it to heaven, but it was not his time to die.
Scriptures for protection:
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (Matthew 7:7-11 KJV)
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. (Proverbs 18:10 KJV)
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. (Psalms 121:5-8 KJV)
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. (Proverbs 3:24-26 KJV)
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. (Psalms 91:9-10 KJV)
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (Isaiah 43:1-2 KJV)
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalms 27:1 KJV)
Have a Blessed day in the Lord.
