PUBLIC OPINION POLL

"I wonder how far Moses would have gone if he'd taken a poll in Egypt?" "What would Jesus Christ have preached if he'd taken a poll in Israel?...It isn't polls or public opinion of the moment that counts. It's right and wrong." President Harry S. Truman

I came across this quote last night and it did cross my mind that Moses probably would not win a Pubic Opinion Poll in this day and age. It could also be said that Jesus also would not come across as a very likeable, or trustful person. I believe that in fact we could say both would be thought of as cultist. Neither man told their followers that they had to follow and do as they said. At any point in time followers could have left the group.

If we are honest with ourselves, we would admit that those following either of these men would be part of a cult, compared to what we see going on in the world today.

Consider that Moses was known by the people from his past, rumors surely had been spoken about of his behavior as an Egyptian and as a murderer. His followers complained from the time they left Egypt. Jesus came across as Mr. Perfect, at least until he got angry in the temple.

Polls are the public speaking out how they feel. How many of us would say we would follow someone no matter how outlandish it looked? Be honest here. Forgive anyone, anything. Follow all of the ten commandments. Getting a little deep?

As we stated yesterday keeping God in a box until you need Him, really just keeps Him out of your business. If you believe that then you are living in a lie. To live in a lie is really leading you to hell.

No Jesus would not win a public opinion poll in this day and age. The reason--we want to do it our way, not His way. The right way not the wrong way.

God Bless
