REACTION TO ACTION
Proverbs 12:16 A fool's wrath is presently known : but a prudent man covereth shame. 17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit. 18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
How do we respond to criticism? Lets us break down the above scripture. We know a fool by their actions, a prudent [practical, sensible, discreet, reasonable] man covers shame. How? With his behavior [the truth]. And yes criticism can be correction.
We have all hear that expression 'we are known by the words we speak'. All of us would love to take back some of the unthinkable words that have come out of our mouths. Those word are just what it says--unthinkable--we did not think before we spoke.
At the same time when others speak without thinking to us, do we in turn think before we speak back to that which was spoken to us.
When I first met Harold, the man of God would get on my nerves. You could ask him the simplest question and had to wait for an answer. Harold did what we all need to do, he thought before he spoke on anything. As I came to know him, my respect for him grew and grew. You could actually see him thinking about what he was going to say before he spoke.
Today our challenge to you is to stop and think before you speak. WWJD can easily be translated into WWJS [What Would Jesus Say]. Try it out and see how your day goes.
God Bless
