MATTHEW 7:7 - BIBLE VERSE FOR THE DAY

One verse that I feel is a major verse on getting more of your prayers answered by the Lord is the one I am going to list for our Bible Verse for the Day. This is the famous ask-seek-knock verse.

Here is this most important verse, and then I will point out a few key things for you to grasp on this verse:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened … If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:7-11)

Notice several things:

1. There are three conditions – ask, seek and knock – and they are all in the same sentence.

2. What I believe the Lord may be trying to tell us is that sometimes all you need to do is ask Him for something and He will then bring it your way. You will not need to do any kind of seeking or knocking.

But then there will be times you may ask several times, and nothing seems to happen. What you may want to do then is see if you need to go into a seeking or knocking mode.

Example – you have just lost your job. You then “ask” God to lead you to the next new job He will want you to have.

From there, God may throw you into the seeking and knocking modes. What this means is that you will have to start seeking and searching for that next new job. And as you are knocking on different doors and going through various interiews, you will then find the next new job God will want you to have in the divine destiny that He has set up for your life.

In other words, you will find it as you are “seeking” after it – just like this verse is telling us.

So the next time you have a prayer request and you have not received an answer to it after “asking” God for it several times, see if God may want you to go into a seeking mode. Sometimes the answer to your prayer will come after you start seeking after it, just like the above example on looking for a new job perfectly illustrates.
