ROSE AND LINDA'S JOURNAL HOLY SPIRIT Cont.

1 Corinthians 14:33-36

What stands out to you about these verses?  What do they say about the gift of the Holy Spirit.  Yet in the mist of Paul's teaching, he says women should not speak out in church.  We have probably all seen  women [and there are men also] that every time the Pastor ask for a testimony we know so-and-so is going to give one.  Could this be what he is speaking on.  We personally do not believe that Paul is speaking of all women.  We have only to look at chapter 2 and see that he speaks of women speaking in the church.  Why this scripture and why here?

Sometimes LJG and I come across things that we have to just step back and say 'gee, what really does this mean?'  There has been much discussion about the verses and why Paul included them here.  In Chapter 1 we read that there was a number of problems in the church at Corinth.  One was women speaking out of line.  That is the crust of what Paul is talking about.

There is to be order in church.  Be it men or women we are not to speak out of turn.  I recently had this happen to me.  I said no to speaking in a church I was visiting.  I was not told to speak by the Spirit so I said no, even when I was pushed to speak.  It would have been out of order.  I saw some concerns in a study, and felt led by the Spirit to speak to the Pastor [which I later did, and he acknowledged I was right]  but at no time did the Spirit tell me to speak in church.

I would also like to clarify here that when I did speak to the Pastor he knew and understood that one of my gifts is edification  But I would never use it without the Holy Spirit telling me to.  The church was not teaching anything wrong, it was the wording in papers that the teaching came from.  Pastor had overlooked a few sentences that misquoted the teaching.

The point here is to be in order.  Confusion does not come from God, it comes from men.  Speaking out of turn is 'out of order.'  Another thing we would like to say here.  Our Grandparents raised us soundly.  One told me do not tear the Bible apart in your studying so much you cannot put it back together.  Maybe one day God will let the light bulb go off in our heads to why Paul said this here. We pray that He does, it is interesting.

For now think before you speak always, especially in church, in doubt don't and speak to the Pastor later.  Only speak when the Holy Spirit tells you to speak, while you might think everyone needs to hear it, the Holy Spirit knows best.

God Bless
