ROSE AND LINDA'S JOURNAL

SUNDAY EDITORIAL

With each generation comes a new answer to an old question:  'Where were you when________________?  Nothing new we have all heard it asked.  The answer’s is what changes.  We can remember the older people saying: 'I remember when.”; 'How much worst can it get?’   Now many of us are the older person now and still we ask ‘How much worst can it get?’

We have but to look at our Face book page, without even turning on the news broadcasts, or for that matter reading the newspaper. 'How much worst can it get?’  I ask is that the question we should be asking?  We want  to know just how we can do our part to try and fix it. We do not want to idly sit back and do nothing.

Where do we start in finding out what to do?  As Christians we are to seek the Lord Jesus Christ.  I find it sad that we cannot over look simple differences and come together to seek the Lord.  I am not speaking of major differences like praying to saints instead of to Jesus.  I am speaking of all those that believe that Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, died on the cross and was raised from the dead.  I am not speaking of you have to be baptized in Jesus Name, not Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I am not speaking of long dresses on women, and uncut hair. No I am not going there.  There are many of us, but how many does God need to come together to take a stand to bring this country back to God.

Does God not tell us He is our Banner and shield? Psalm 60:4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Psalm 3:3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.Does He not tell us He has our back?Psalm 139:5 You have hedged me behind and before,And laid Your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;It is high, I cannot attain it.

And the story that He has laid on my heart today is the story of the army of too many. Judges 7
Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.4 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the Lord said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.8 So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.9 And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

Do we need a great army, do we need warriors without count.  All we need is what the Lord Jesus Christ tells us we need, and the victory is ours.

What then should we do, and how shall we do it?  Until the leaders [and I am speaking of Spiritual Holy Ghost filled men and women of God] of this country can put their differences aside and stand together what can we expect to happen.

9-11 brought us together in spite of our differences.  The major hurricanes that have hit Florida, Louisiana and New York, let me not forget to mention school shootings and tornadoes they all  brought us together in spite of our differences. Right now it seems every way I turn people’s families are being attacked. Last but not lease look at our government, that can’t take care of it’s on, but sends money to other countries; shuts down but continues to receive a healthy salary. Unfortunately a few weeks of pulling together can right the boat, but not keep it upright.

Remember where you were?  I remember the first monkey in space, the first man in space, when Kennedy and Martin were shot, and then another Kennedy shot, the space shuttle explosion, and the list goes on.

I would love to add to that list of ‘Where were you when... the people of this country came together and stood  in prayer for Jesus Christ to help us out of the mess we are in’.

God Bless
