WORD OF WISDOM
FATHER ~ Believers are called God's "sons" (John 1:12; Romans 8:16; Matthew 6:4, 8, 15, 18; 10:20, 29). They also call him "Father" (Romans 1:7; 1 Corinthians 1:3; 2 Corinthians 1:2; Galatians 1:4).

“The church,’ he begin, is in grave danger of changing her message, which is the saving and keeping power of Jesus Christ, and the Living water, for the dry and hopeless mirage of a ‘changed world,’ through humanistic endeavor.
‘Humanism says, ‘change man’s environment and living conditions.’ Christianity says, ‘you must be born again’—that in it and through Christ we become a ‘new creation.’
Humanism would make the prodigal comfortable, happy and prosperous in the ‘far country’ and leave him there. Christianity seeks man’s immediate welfare, but above and beyond all else, it brings the prodigal back to his Father through the Lord Jesus Christ.
…death is the ultimate end of all human existence-a fact that the so-called social gospel seems to ignore.”
Dr. Nelson Bell in his retiring moderator’s sermon June 10, 1973 from the United Presbyterians. Dr. Bell was the father of Ruth Bell Graham wife of Billy Graham.

Thirty-five years ago Dr. Bell spoke those words, within less then 2 months he would go home to be with Jesus. What he said at that time was true and is even more so true today. It seems today that there are those helping people as far as their living conditions are concerned, without doing anything to help the soul of that person know and have a relationship with Christ, which we know is the only real helpful change that can save someone.

There is nothing wrong with reaching out to help others, but that without Christianity it is nothing. Sounds strong, yes, and it is meant to be. We are to help others as we would help ourselves. Giving a meal to a family in need does not help them in the future. Giving a supply of food is better, but what then? Do we give that food with the love of Christ or merely because it is the thing to do? Do we take the time to tell someone why we are helping them? Do we take the time to share the love of Christ with them? What of our own families?

We can show more than we can do sometimes. Our actions do speak louder then our words. I pray that this causes you to think about why you do the things you do.

PS In life there are many people Christian and non-Christian who reach out in extreme times and make the decision to get involved to help save someone. To me it is in times like this that we react to the situation, doing what we know in our hearts is the right thing to do. Then there are those who choose to do things they do not have to do in normal times because of a love for Christ, to show true love. I am asking that you watch the following video clip. It was sent to me this week, and expresses to me the best example on earth that I have ever seen of a mans love for his son.

May God bless you this week to search your heart concerning not only strangers but also family in why and how you should show the love of Christ.

A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?' The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.'

To which, his father said 'Yes' .

For those who didn't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island .

Father and son went on to complete the race together. View this

THINK ON THIS
When you face the perils of weariness, carelessness, and
confusion, don't pray for an easier life. Pray instead to be a
stronger man or woman of God.
