WORD OF WISDOM
TRUTH ~ Used in various senses in Scripture. In Proverbs 12:17, 19, it denotes that which is opposed to falsehood. In Isaiah 59:14, 15, Jeremiah 7:28, it means fidelity or truthfulness. The doctrine of Christ is called "the truth of the gospel" (Galatians 2:5), "the truth" (2 Timothy 3:7; 4:4). Our Lord says of himself, "I am the way, and the truth" (John 14:6).

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate (void of judgement, rejected as worthless when tested).

There are so many people who say they know God, but in every step of their life they deny and reject Him. Look how miserable the lives of the hypocrites are, they have a form of godliness, but have no power. But let us check out our lives first before we start trying to lay the blame on them.

Paul isn't talking about their knowledge of God but they do not have an outward showing of Him. Paul was talking about and to the Jews, the seducing teachers and those who had been feed bad doctrine, at the time he wrote this but I think it applies to so many people other than the Jews today. Look at around you and you will find so many who are so full with their own believes in the knowledge of the true God. They will not admit that any other people can have this knowledge nor do they believe God ever did or would reveal Himself to any other people but themselves.

These people are counterfeit even though they have the name of God. They do good work but not in the spirit that it should have been done. I sometimes wonder why they even bothered to do anything in the first place. For example, they never let anyone forget what they done for them. They need to refer to Mathew chapter 6. But they first should have the true word of God engraved in and on their hearts before anything will help them.

The truth, which is according to godliness, in reference to eternal life, should be carefully regarded. The substantial knowledge of the truth must have faith for its foundation, godliness for its rule, and eternal life for its end.

He who does not begin well, is never likely to finish fair. He who does not refer everything to eternity is never likely to live well or happy in this world much less in eternity.

God's Blessing to each of you,
