ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE DAY
JUST LIKE A WOMAN
“On entering, Jesus found Peter's mother-in-law sick in bed, burning up with fever. He touched her hand and the fever was gone. No sooner was she up on her feet than she was fixing dinner for him.” Matthew 8:14-15
Ladies, this speaks volumes to me. We have unexpected company, and no matter how we are feeling or what we’re in the middle of, we have a gut desire to jump to our feet and rush to make the guests feel at home. There is something God-given that makes a woman want her home to be a place of comfort, a place of refuge. Where we sometimes get it wrong is when we think that our homes aren’t good enough, new enough, and clean enough for God to use.
It’s the same with other parts of our lives. God made us to love one another, to fellowship, to reach out to those in need, yet how often do we pass up opportunities, saying, “I couldn’t possibly do that Lord.” We come up with lots of excuses. I’m not good enough to be used or I’m not trained in that area, or I’m too scared. But the power to do any or all of those things is instilled in us… a God-given desire that if we just seize the opportunity, will produce a blessing of God-sized measurement.
The time and the place will present itself. You will feel a sense of longing, if not compulsion to move forward. Will you follow that desire, or give in to the lies of Satan and give up an opportunity and a blessing?
