ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE DAY

One Path Which All May Take

Romans 10:12
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him...

I spoke to a man recently who told me he was a Christian, yet didn't believe in going to church, honoring religious holidays, or memorizing Scripture. He decided he was going to be a Christian, "My way." I told him, "You might want to take a look at what the Bible says about your approach." He referenced our passage today, and said, "See, it's the same Lord. He blesses everyone who calls on Him. There are many paths -- it doesn't matter whether you are a Jew, Gentile, Muslim or Hindu. All paths lead to God. Your beliefs are far too narrow-minded."

Obviously the man missed the whole point of our passage today. Jesus is the Lord for all. He is also the Lord of all. Jew or Gentile, it doesn't matter, all can be rescued by Him and brought to Him, into His kingdom, the church. This doesn't mean there are many paths. Rather there is only one path which all are invited to take.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) All -- that means everyone. You and me. If we are to be saved, we must come the same way to Christ. There doesn't seem to be much room for misinterpretation. Yet some still read and understand what they choose. God doesn't say, "Come to me, but do it your way." He says, "My grace and mercy are available to anyone who trusts and believes in My Son Jesus." How firmly are your feet set on the path to righteousness? Is your faith placed on the solid foundation of Jesus only?
