BUT ALL THESE WORKETH

WORD OF WISDOM
SPIRITUAL GIFTS ~ (Gr. charismata), gifts supernaturally bestowed on the early Christians, each having his own proper gift or gifts for the edification of the body of Christ. These were the result of the extraordinary operation of the Spirit, as on the day of Pentecost. They were the gifts of speaking with tongues, casting out devils, healing, etc. (Mark 16:17, 18), usually communicated by the medium of the laying on of the hands of the apostles (Acts 8:17; 19:6; 1 Timothy 4:14). These charismata were enjoyed only for a time. They could not continue always in the Church. They were suited to its infancy and to the necessities of those times. It differs from the charisma (1 Corinthians 12:4) as denoting not miraculous powers but the working of a new spirit in men, and that spirit from God.

1 Corinthians 12:11 But all these worketh that one and selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will.

Years ago I was in a church that actually had classes for new members to take. They wanted us to learn and grow in the Lord. Over the next days I will be sharing with you a folder from that church I found. I want to share it with you and pray that it will be a help to you where ever you are in your walk with the Lord.

BENEFITS OF SPIRITUAL GIFTS

..................You will be a better Christian and more able to follow God to make your life count for Him.

2. Not only does knowing about Spiritual gifts help individual Christians, but it helps the church as a whole. Ephesians 4:13-14 (King James Version)13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

3. The most important thing that knowing about Spiritual gifts does is that it glorifies God. 1 Peter 4:10-11 (King James Version)10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
