ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE DAY

A Garden Heart

As a renewed, but not so young, Christian, I did some study on the Song of Solomon and found the book totally fascinating. “I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse.” Song of Solomon 5:1 (KJV).

Having asked the Lord Jesus to come again into my heart, the way He had when I was a little girl, then in my studies, to discover that the believer’s heart as a ‘type’ of Christ’s garden, set my spirit soaring.

Yes, our hearts are like His garden, which He bought with His Precious Blood, and He enters and claims our garden hearts as His own. We know a garden is not like an open field or wilderness, but rather it implies a place set apart, hedged or walled. And if we will allow Jesus’ protective, loving hand always to strengthen our heart’s garden wall, the systems, wiles, and ways of the world will not be attractive or tempting to us. Jesus desires to make our garden hearts into a place of beauty, tranquility, and light, surpassing all that the world offers.

If we will ask of Him the true owner and expert gardener of our hearts, He will enable us by His Grace to grow the most perfect produce of flowers, fruit, shrubs, trees, vegetables, all perfumed with His very own fragrances, to inspire and attract His unsaved chosen ones to Himself.

The rarest, richest, choicest produce of His desire will be planted, then grow, blossom, bloom, mature, multiply et cetera, in this garden place. If we agree that our hearts are His, He becomes the Majestic Husbandman, and the Holy Spirit the necessary heavenly dew. In His garden, we possess the highest caring love in God’s Created Universe.
