PHILIPPIANS 3:12-14 BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
– Philippians 3:12-14 (NIV)
Today’s commentary

The Christian life is not one of complacency, but it is also not a life of performance. Notice that Paul states that he is taking hold of what took hold of him. In other words, God has a plan for our lives that is so much bigger than anything that we can imagine that we have to strain in our efforts to keep up! God has taken hold of us, so we are not trying to win His approval; now we are living life to the fullest as we stay in step with the Holy Spirit.
