ROSE AND LINDA'S JOURNAL

This is one of the first things I wrote after LJG and I started posting my articles on-line..  Hope you enjoy it.

WORDS ARE NOT ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM

A COMMODE WAS A WOMAN'S ORNATE CAP POPULAR IN THE LATE 17TH AND EARLY 18TH CENTURIES. TOILET PAPER BEGAN AS A CLOTH LAID OVER THE SHOULDERS WHILE HAVING ONE'S HAIR DRESSED OR SHAVING.

WE FIND IT SOMETIMES AMUSING AS WE SEARCH FOR MEANINGS TO OTHER WORDS WHAT WE DO COME ACROSS.

ALAS ON THIS FIELD TRIP INTO MERRIAM WEBSTER'S DELUXE DICTIONARY WE DID NOT FIND THAT WHICH WE WERE LOOKING FOR. ABBA IS NOT THERE AND SO OUR JOURNEY CONTINUED.

ABBA.

I RESEARCHED NUMEROUS BOOKS AND FOR THE MEANING OF ABBA ALWAYS CAME UP FATHER, EXCEPT FOR ONE ENTRY: IT SAYS THAT ABBA IS THE HEBREW/ARAMAIC NOT FOR "FATHER" BUT FOR THE ENDEARMENT "PAPA" OR "DADDY." THIS BEING THE WORD JESUS USED WHEN ADDRESSING GOD IN PRAYER.

THIS MEANING PULLED AT MY HEART AS IT SOUNDS OF THE CLOSENESS OF THE TWO. FATHER BEING PERSONAL, WHILE SOUNDING FORMAL. DADDY/PAPA BEING OF A CLOSE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP.

WE ARE NOT DEBATING THE MEANING.

WE FEEL EACH TO THEIR OWN. BUT THE SOUND OF JESUS CALLING OUT "DADDY" SOMEHOW CHANGES THE FEEL OF THE WORD.

DADDY, THE ONE WHOSE LAP WE CLIMBED ONTO AS A CHILD, THE ONE WHO IN OUR DARKEST TIMES REACHED OUT A HAND. OH THE DREAM "DADDY" TO MANY OF US WHO NEVER EXPERIENCED THAT DEEP, ALWAYS LOVING AGAPE LOVE. YES, WE LIKE THE SOUND. WHILE WE REVERENCE OUR LORD, AND RESPECT HIM AS KING OF KINGS, HE IS AND WANTS US TO THINK OF HIM AS DADDY.

GOD BLESS

RECJ/LJG
