WORD OF WISDOM
Remember that the Gospel is not good news if you do not share it with them...
Source: Pastor John Sweat
It was the season of harvest, when the fields were ripe and full, and ready to yield their bounty after hard work and a long winter. Each man had his assigned rows in the field of peas, and would only be paid for full baskets they delivered to the buyers -- who stood by their trucks at the end of the field. As the day of harvest drew to a close, they had to finish their rows before the sun when down and the buyers left with their loads. This meant that the last picker would probably miss the trucks if they didn't finish in time.

One picker had been working hard in the field since early morning, trying to gather as much as he could, but he was falling behind the others. Soon, it became evident that he wouldn't finish in time, and he began to panic. As he picked up the pace, and tried desperately to catch up, his work became sloppy. He tried his best to meet the deadline before the trucks pulled away. Fear and anger made him work feverishly, but he knew there wasn't any way he could finish. Almost ready to pass out, the man noticed another worker standing in the opposite end of his row, picking his peas, and putting them into his own basket. But there was no time to stop and argue, no time to fight about his territory. So he just kept picking, until the two met in the middle of the row. When they did, the poor man was ready to fight, and he angrily challenged the poacher. The poacher simply smiled, and dumped his full load into the poor man's basket. He they told the man, "Now it's your turn. Someday, give someone a basket of peas when they need it."

I hope that you enjoyed the story and know that we are all in the giving and receiving end of the basket at one timeor another. At times we can be overwhelmed at work with a project that seems will never be completed, and someone steps into the fray and lends a hand to get everything done.

At other times we may feel that our personal lives are overflowing and someone steps in and calms the nerves.

I hope that we all continue to be both giver and receiver because it is just as blessed to give as to receive.

This was sent to me by my dear friend Claire. I feel that it is something that we really need to think about. Sometimes we get so caught up in the every day business of our own lifes and so often we forget they are others all around us who need a basket of peas more than we do. Lets resolve today to think about others a little more and share with them the same love that God has bestowed on us. Act 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

God's Blessings to each of you,

LJG/rECj
