AMP And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire [a sound of gentle stillness and] a still, small voice.

One of the names of our Lord is Gentle Whisper. It would surprise me if someone who knows the Lord and has a relationship with Him said they had never heard the still small voice of the Lord.

The gentle whisper of the Lord can happen in many ways. It might be the whisper of a touch, it can be the whisper of air flowing over us, and it can be the softest voice that speaks to us. What makes the whisper stand out, and lets us know it is different, is the way we feel the whisper. How do I put into words the touch of the Lords hand on my shoulder? How do I explain the sound of the gentle whisper that says I love you my child?

It is almost like describing the love we feel as we pray and loose all touch with the world and enter into a place where we seem to cease to exist and there is only God. His gentle whisper is like the touch of an eyelash on our face. It is like the caress of a feather, so light, but yet a touch. A touch that we know that we know is from our Father.

Today we ask God to give you a gentle whisper. Enjoy it and rest in the gentleness of the whisper.
