WORD OF WISDOM

Helmet - (Heb. kob'a), a cap for the defence of the head (1 Sam. 17:5, 38). In the New Testament the Greek equivalent is used (Eph. 6:17; 1 Thess. 5:8).

HOW TO PRAY PART FIVE

Before I start on the Armour of God I want to tell you what I just finished watching. Billy Graham is probably the best-known evangelist in the world. He has traveled to over 80 countries, and spoke with more world leaders then anyone I can think of. He was on Praise the Lord with Jan and Paul Crouch. Paul asked him if there was one thing that he could do differently in his life what would it be. Billy Graham did not pause as he answered study and pray more. This should tell you something. Even someone who has been mightily used by God feels they should spend more time with God.

Think about that.

The Armour of God, what is it and why do we need to have it.

Ephesians 6:10-18 (King James Version)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
There it is, but lets talk about each part. For the complete article go to www.crossroad.to/Victory/Armour.htm. Or just click here. I am using this site because it gives the most in-depth explanation that I could find, in words that are much better then my own.

He is my Peace who comforts me with the assurance of His sovereignty, wisdom, and love.
His Faith is in me, shielding me from fear, doubt, and despair.
He is also my past, present, and future Salvation who already saved me from guilt and condemnation. He saves me today from every trial and will one day exchange this decaying, earthly body for a fresh, new, beautiful body.
He is the victorious Word with power to win every battle. He is everything I need to live, walk, and work triumphantly every day.
Next, I take each piece of His armor by faith, affirm its basic truth, and apply it to myself.
Thank You for Your truth. I will count on all the wonderful things You have shown and promised me.
Thank You for Your righteousness in me. You have made me holy, precious and beautiful in Your sight (Isaiah 43:1-4, 25; Ephesians 1:4, 2:1-10).
Thank You for the peace I have in and with You. Keep me still in Your presence as we work together this day. Let Your peace flow through me to others John 14:27, 16:33).
Thank You for the gift of faith. I will believe and proclaim Your sovereignty, wisdom, love, and triumph no matter what confronts me (Galatians 2:20).
Thank You for eternal salvation. I count on You to bring me safely and triumphantly through every challenge of this day. Keep my heart set on the encouraging hope of Your final salvation, which will bring me face-to-face with You, my King (Romans 5:8-10, 8:23; 1 Thessalonians 5:8-9; 1 John 3:3).
Thank You for Your Word. Show me which Scripture will bring triumph in my thoughts and emotions today (Ephesians 6:17).

Each day we have to protect ourselves. Put on your Armour before you do anything and then see what happens.

WORDS OF WISDOM

MAY 29 1774 Pioneer American Methodist bishop Francis Asbury wrote in his journal: 'Lord, keep me from all the superfluity of dress, and from preaching empty stuff to please the ear, instead of changing the heart.'

HOW TO PRAY PART FOUR

Having a personal close relationship with Jesus is not impossible, nor is it hard. The more time you spend with Him the closer you get to Him. You come to a place where you know when it is Him speaking to you. Your Spirit will stir inside you and let you know that what you are doing is right or wrong. The only way is spending time in His Word.

The biggest problem some people have is believing GOD will do something for them. It is easier to believe for someone else then for yourself. You have to get it inside you that God does love you and desires for you to have what He said in His Word. He is talking about you, as well as anyone else that is saved.

As an example let’s talk about smoking. Now think about the Christians you know who smoke, maybe yourself. Well can you picture Kenneth Copeland puffing on a cigarette? What about Joyce Myers? Kind of hard to think isn’t it. Well they both are former smokers.

Years ago I was in a church and the pastors wife was this beautiful older woman, head full of gray hair, quite and somewhat shy, unless she was speaking to a group. One day the pastor was talking and he told us the first time he ever saw her she was sitting in a bar drinking a beer, and smoking a cigarette.

The point I am trying to get you to see is God was talking to all these people when they were smoking and drinking. He wasn’t finished with them yet. And He isn’t finished with you either. So do not let the devil tell you that there is any reason why you cannot get what Jesus has already paid the price for, that belongs to you.

That does not mean to hold on to sin in your life, but as God is cleaning you up remember these promises are to you when you pray. THE DEVIL IS WAITING FOR ANY CHANCE TO GET HIS FOOT IN THE DOOR. Don’t let him.

You cannot have doubt and faith. If you pray for healing, then believe you are healed, walk in it, and stand in it. And when the pain hits, tell it God said. If your Momma asks how you are doing say all is well. Do not speak any and I do mean any negative words into the air. The very words you speak come to life. Be very careful of what you say.

To more solidly show you what I MEAN I will tell you about something personal that happened to me over 6 months ago. I woke up one morning to pain, I rebuked it and said by Jesus’ stripes I am healed. The pain got worst. Six trips to the emergency room, no reason for the pain, I literally gave up, I hurt so bad. The doctors told me to apply for disability I would never be able to work in that pain. Shots of Demerol gave me no relief. Then one day my daughter who had been acting very odd to me jumped all over me. I am looking at her and telling her don’t you see I am in pain. She said you have always been a fighter, but you have just set down and accepted this. You are not the mother I know. Well she hurt me, hurt me bad. But it caused me to sit down and look at myself. I knew God healed, but she was right I had accepted the pain. I had even got a cane to walk with. I had a railing put up at the steps so I wouldn’t fall. My leg would just give out on me.

The next morning I got up and I said who I was in the Lord, and what belonged to me. I have never been in pain since. Oh my leg tried a few times to go out on me, but I kept right on walking. I am now working full time at a job where I pick up as much as 60 pounds off and on all day. I stand from the time I get there until I clock out.

I started speaking what God said and not what I felt. You have to speak what you want not what you are feeling.

People this is so important. If you don’t get out of the mind frame of speaking where you are, you will never get out of it. You have to speak where you want to be. If you are praying what the Work of God says, but turn around and speak the opposite, you are stopping your own prayers from getting answered.

So you have a set back. Get up, ask forgiveness and go again. To succeed you have to not listen to the voice of circumstances around you. Do what ever it takes to keep your attention on God’s Word. I find writing a scripture or two down and putting them in my pocket helps. I get to the point I just have to reach in my pocket and touch the card and the words are coming out my mouth.

To succeed you have to keep your eyes on Him. Then you will have a realization of God’s ability from your own personal experience. You realize that God moved because you prayed and used your faith.

You have never lived until you know the thrill of watching your prayers come to pass!

Tomorrow we will look at the Armour of God.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Desire of all nations - (Hag. 2:7), usually interpreted as a title of the Messiah. The Revised Version, however, more correctly renders "the desirable things of all nations;" i.e., the choicest treasures of the Gentiles shall be consecrated to the Lord.

HOW TO PRAY PART THREE

So what else do we need to pray and be successful? It is not enough that we know we need to pray, we need to know why.

Ephesians 4:14-16 (King James Version)

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

The success of your prayer life is in your faith. Faith is what causes your prayers to bring results. Faith pleases God; it pleases God to answer your prayers.

Hebrews 11:6 (King James Version)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

You can only have faith to the extent and knowledge that you have of God. To increase your faith, you need to spend time in God’s word. The better acquainted you are with Him, the stronger your faith will be. Being a part of God’s family gives you the right to expect that your prayers will be answered.

To have success, you must expect results. Hoping is not the same as believing you receive. The promises of God will bring hope in hopeless situations, but by itself hope has no substance. Faith brings hope into reality. Faith is what gives hope substance.

Hebrews 11:1 (King James Version)
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hope is future, faith is now.

Base your prayers on God’s Word. God’s Word is the integrity of God Himself.
John 17:17 (King James Version)
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

God’s Word is His will. When you pray in line with the word, you automatically are in line with the Word of God. Search God’s Word for your answer. God’s will-Jesus paid the full price not only for your sin, but sickness, disease and the consequences of sin. Think about that for a bit, not just your sins but also the consequences of those sins.

Once you have prayed, trust. Stand your ground. If the devil try's to tell you it isn’t going to happen for whatever reason, Tell him it is written…. Matthew 4:1-11 (King James Version)
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
The devil has no defense against the Word of God, when a believer speaks it in faith.

When you begin your prayer based on the Word of God you are starting with the answer. God’s Word contains the answer to every problem that could confront you.
Mark 11:24 (King James Version)
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
You have to believe to receive. Don’t wait to see an answer.
Numbers 23:19 (King James Version)
19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Trust God’s integrity, apply your faith.
How do we get faith? Where does it come from?
Romans 10:17 (King James Version)
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 12:3 (King James Version)
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Faith must be developed, and that can only happen by spending time in God’s Word. The amount of faith you have is directly related to how much knowledge you have of God. You already have faith, now you need a personal knowledge of God. The only way is to spend time in His Word.

Till tomorrow

WORDS OF WISDOM

Forgiveness of sin - one of the constituent parts of justification. In pardoning sin, God absolves the sinner from the condemnation of the law, and that on account of the work of Christ, i.e., he removes the guilt of sin, or the sinner's actual liability to eternal wrath on account of it. All sins are forgiven freely (Acts 5:31; 13:38; 1 John 1:6-9). The sinner is by this act of grace for ever freed from the guilt and penalty of his sins. This is the peculiar prerogative of God (Ps. 130:4; Mark 2:5). It is offered to all in the gospel.

HOW TO PRAY PART TWO

As I mentioned we will now look at the LORD”S Prayer. This is how Jesus told us to pray. We looked at some ways not to pray in “How not to pray” so now let us look at the right way to pray.

The Lord’s Prayer was meant to be used as a guide. When we look at it closely it guides us to a way to pray. The [ ] brackets are LJG, and the { } brackets are rECj.

Matthew 6:5-15
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
[God our Father lives in heaven, but yet He lives in my heart, blessed, praise be Thy name.] {My Father, yeah mine, the one who knows me by name. And He lives right up there in heaven , but He lives inside me also, the Comforter. Hallowed be they Name—thy Name, which is God, Mighty, Strong, Prominent, Creator, Preserver, All Sufficient, Provider, Healer, Our Banner, Lord Who Sanctifies, Our Peace, Shepard, Judge, Our Righteousness, Is There, Lord of Hosts, Our Redeemer, Most High, Shield, The Branch, Stone, Holy One, Everlasting God, God of Seeing, Wonderful, Counselor, Jealous, Prince of Peace, Deliver, Savior, The First and Last. And this is not all His names.}

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
[Thy blessing, spirit that we will do on earth as it is done in heaven. Which means to be happy, rejoice, getting alone with everyone, no doubts, no tears, no troubles total happiness.] {That God’s most perfect will, is all that there is in heaven. God desires the same for us here on earth.}

11 Give us this day our daily bread.
[That He is going to supply all my needs and take care of me and guide my feet, thoughts and hands and of course my mouth.] {Daily bread is what we need to survive, and He will furnish everything that we need.}

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
[He forgives me of my faults and wrong doing as soon as I ask and we are to forgive just as quickly as He does.] {Just as it is right and just for God to forgive us, it is only fair that He does it for us, only as we do it for others.}

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
[Don't let me walk, talk, think into the temptations of the world or those around me, He will keep evil from me. He is totally in charge. He has everything under control. He is all-powerful and I need to remember and give in to His glory and protection. Even when I make a mistake and fall, once I go to Him and repent, He in all His glory gladly and freely forgives me and doesn't keep reminding me what I done over and over again.] {If we ask He will not lead us into anything that can harm us. And if we do step out of His will, He will deliver us up out of it. He is the Kingdom, He is the Power, and He is the Glory.}

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Now how much more can you ask of our Lord? Jesus has given us a perfect example. We read in the New Testament how He would go off and pray for hours. Spending time in prayer prepares us to effectively live in this world and do the will of Jesus. Everything in our life needs to be backed by prayer to be successful. It is the key to success in very area of your life.

Tomorrow we will continue.

Closet - as used in the New Testament, signifies properly a storehouse (Luke 12: 24), and hence a place of privacy and retirement (Matt. 6:6; Luke 12:3).

HOW TO PRAY PART ONE

Congratulations, you re getting ready to embark on a great learning experience. We will be speaking on our private prayer time.

To keep track of what we are praying about we will need to have a notebook. You can use paper in a folder, a tablet or actual notebook, or you might want to get a nice blank journal.

I do not recommend keeping your prayer requests on the computer. Being guilty of this myself, I have had the computer be down and even crash. Yes, I lost it all. This is one time for paper and pen.

Next pick a location. This is each to their own. Pick a place where you can be comfortable and have a place for your Bible, paper and pen. You want to be alone and able to read and write.

There are times when I like to play music softly. This is called praise and worship music, no singing just music. Another relaxing sound is the CD’s that play “soft” sounds. Either is good and helps to block out background noises.

Now that we have a place, music if wanted, and our Bible, paper and pen we are ready to prepare to pray.

The best guide we have as to how to pray is in the Bible.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

The Bible is the Word of God. God’s Word is God’s will. God cannot lie, so if we tell God this is what He said and we believe then we will see answers.

Wait a minute, am I getting into uncharted waters here. You didn’t know that, or you find it hard to believe. You are not by yourself. There are a lot of Christians out there that do not know what rights and privileges they have. But God is a good God, and He even has a scripture for that.
Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Luke 17:6
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

We have our place, our tools, and a guideline. Today take the time to read over the Lord’s Prayer and write down in your notes what this actually means to you. Take it line by line and tell your self what does this mean to me.

Tomorrow we will go over it line by line and explain why it is a guideline, and what it means to you.

God Bless

WORDS OF WISDOM

SUNDAY EDITORIAL

Today I am going to do as LJG did yesterday and express myself.

I am proud to be an American, and I am proud to be a child of Christ. I do not believe as I do because of how I was raised, though it did influence me in many ways. I was taught from an early age to ask questions, search for answers, and not to except what I saw as the truth.

I have found that the greatest gift that God has given me is the Holy Spirit because when someone is out of line with the Word of God, it will jump up and roar like a pit bull. I know it inside as well as I know I am sitting here writing.

I love the Lord so much, and know in my heart I can never Love Him enough. That is one of the reasons for this site. I want to share what I have and so does LJG. It is too wonderful to contain.

It hurts me when I see people just take for granted the rights that we have in this country; the rights that we are losing, slowly but surely. And what really hurts me about it, is it doesn’t take a lot of people to turn this country around.

Over and over again in the OT we see people of God going into battle. There are even stories where they were told to take less men. David with a rock killed Goliath. The wall of Jericho, well it fell just with men walking around it and blowing a trumpet. In one story there weren’t any humans in battle, it was just angels. God is amazing, all the time.

Here are just two scripture references:
2 Kings 7:1-7
1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time [shall] a measure of fine flour [be sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, [if] the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see [it] with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine [is] in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, [there was] no man there.
6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, [even] the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.
7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it [was], and fled for their life.

Judges 7:4-7
4 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people [are] yet [too] many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, [that] of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.
5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.
6 And the number of them that lapped, [putting] their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.
7 And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the [other] people go every man unto his place.

But the Christians do not want to stand together. They let petty differences that are not important stand in between them. United we stand, divided we fall. I am talking about the “right” way to be baptized, or having to wear dresses not pants, etc. I am not speaking of praying to others, that is a sin. I am not speaking of kissing rings, or bowing to statues, those are also sins.

The other day a young man said to me, “to each his own”. Hey you know what that is cool with me. But don’t tell me to stop what I am doing. I am employed by the only store in our town that said Merry Chrsitmas to our customers last year. And when I applied for the job, the manager asked me why I wanted to work there and that is what I told him. During orientation they tell you God first, family second and then the company. You don’t hear much of that anymore. And I love my job.

It is time for this country to stand together, even if we do look low in numbers, and be counted. I do not want God taken out of the USA. Yes it is the United States of American one nation under God. I do not want to lose that. I am ashamed of my brothers and sisters who are willing to quietly sit by and let anyone whether they were born here or came from another country tell us to take God out of it.

There is no taking God out of the USA not as long as there are some of us. And believe me there are a lot of us.

You don’t fix what works. And honestly that is what has happened to this country. The majority of the people that founded this country set it up with God as the Head. Then others came in and slowly people started to make compromises so others would be comfortable.

Not in my home, you are welcome to come and visit. You are welcome to express your views. You can ask all the questions you want. But when it comes to my home, we stand for Jesus Christ. The Bible is the only word of God that I know. Books written by man and inspired by man are just that inspired by man, and if they do not line up with the Word of God, then I have no need of them. Nor do I add them to the Word of God.

Doing this site I read a lot of articles and books for information. And it never stops amazing me the lengths people will go looking for the only real peace they can have and that is in Jesus Christ.

I wish that all could be as sure as I of the love of my Father in heaven. I wish that all had salvation through Him. Without it you are lost. They Bible tells us that all will not be saved, but in the end all will bow down to Him.

I do not compromise for you, for my family, for anyone. My stand is for Jesus; He is the way the only way. I don’t need anyone else to get to Him, I am an open door to Him, and He is an open door to me. I have but to seek and I shall find. Everyday I grow more in Him, I learn, and I have joy in knowing that if I make a mistake, I am forgiven by simply asking Him, and not anyone else. I stand for Jesus and shall stand until the Lord comes again.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Fear of the Lord the - is in the Old Testament used as a designation of true piety (Prov. 1:7; Job 28:28; Ps. 19:9). It is a fear conjoined with love and hope, and is therefore not a slavish dread, but rather filial (having or assuming the relation of a child or offspring) reverence. (Comp. Deut. 32:6; Hos. 11:1; Isa. 1:2; 63:16; 64:8.) God is called "the Fear of Isaac" (Gen. 31:42, 53), i.e., the God whom Isaac feared.

A holy fear is enjoined also in the New Testament as a preventive of carelessness in religion, and as an incentive to penitence (Matt. 10:28; 2 Cor. 5:11; 7:1; Phil. 2:12; Eph. 5:21; Heb. 12:28, 29).

SATURDAY EDITORIAL

rECj and I were talking yesterday about the Court House Judge in Raleigh, North Carolina ruling that the Koran was alright for jurors and witness to use instead of the Bible. She made the comment that the Believers of God, the true believers, could take our America back but we won't.

Why?

I think it is because we are afraid ( I Tim 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind). Afraid that people will assault us or yell or whatever they do to those they that disagree with them. Now I am talking about those people who are against our God. Are they afraid of what people will do to them? It sure don't look like it. They have taken almost everything that pertains to God out of America. They don't mind telling us that we, who will speak out in public about God that we offend them. Well, just let me tell ya'll something...they offend me because I can't speak out for my God in public as well. I don't like to hear someone using God's name in vain (Exd 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain). I don't like all those filthy words they use. I don't mind telling them so. I don't go out much any more but when I do, if I feel that I need to praise the Lord over something, I sure will do so. This country's freedom no longer belongs to native born Americans. It now belongs to others who have chosen to come over here and take over.

Now for just a minute or two lets look at a little history. I wonder how many people know these facts? General Washington would NOT allow cursing, drinking, cards and any games of change. If someone did these things he was to be given 25 lashes right on the spot. The second time the punishment was worse. He, himself, didn't curse. The least religious signers of the Declaration of Indenpence was Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin. Samuel Adams and Charles Carroll cited religion freedom for their reason for supporting the Revolutionary War. George Washington installed the first pastors in the Military. He is also the one who raised their pay from that of a private to that of an officer. Back then the pastors, when away, would have to pay for another preacher to fill the pulpit for them out of their own pockets. George Washington declared that Sunday worship service would be attended by all military.

To those of you who don't want to admit America was founded with religion in mind need to do a little research. You will be surprise at what you find.

So, wherever you are or whatever you are doing, please don't be ashamed (Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels) to stand for God. Just as God stood for us as did our Founding Leaders, the Signers of the Declaration, and the first people who landed in Virginia, who first planted a Cross, said a Prayer. They made a covenant with God over this land. We, the descendants of these very people, are breaking the covenant.

Stay the course and stand (Acts 26:6 And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:) up for God every change you have and can get.

God Blessings to each of you,

WORDS OF WISDOM

Hypocrite - one who puts on a mask and feigns himself to be what he is not; a dissembler in religion. Our Lord severely rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy (Matt. 6:2, 5, 16). "The hypocrite's hope shall perish" (Job 8:13). The Hebrew word here rendered "hypocrite" rather means the "godless" or "profane," as it is rendered in Jer. 23:11, i.e., polluted with crimes.

HOW NOT TO PRAY

Wait a minute; you thought I was going to give you some pointers on how to pray. Yes I am. But first lets talk about what we don’t need to do. As always let’s see what the Bible has to say about it.

Matthew 6:5-15 (King James Version
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.} .
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Do your praying in private, it is between you and God. {We are not speaking here of prayer meetings, or prayer at church. What the Bible is speaking of are people who pray for attention.}
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. The Bible is speaking here of the same prayer over and over again. Do you not believe that God hears you, that you need to repeat word for word the same thing to Him.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. God is a just and righteous God, He will forgive you only as much as you forgive others
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. .

What you are unable to do, ask and He will do it for you. If you find it hard to forgive someone, then be honest with God. An example would be: Lord I know that I am suppose to forgive this person, and even thought I don’t feel it, I am going to speak it, and I will ask you to do a work in me concerning them.

Psalms 66:18
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear [me]:

Isaiah 59:2
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear.

John 9:31
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

We feel real deep about people who go before the Lord whining and bellyaching about how bad life is treating them. They never count their blessings. They never see the good things He has given them. They never say “Thank You Jesus” for anything.

How can anyone expect a blessing, much less a miracle with these kinds of thoughts
going on in their head all the time? If we aren’t getting what we need, we need to look at ourselves to find out why He isn’t listening or answering. Seek and ye shall find.

God does not make mistakes, He never has, and He never will. But we seek and we learn. We ask God to change us and show us a better way. If your prayers are not getting answered then let us show you a better way. Remember it has to be His way not your way. It’s all about Him.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Madness - This word is used in its proper sense in Deut. 28:34, John 10:20, 1 Cor. 14:23. It also denotes a reckless state of mind arising from various causes, as over-study (Eccl. 1:17; 2:12), blind rage (Luke 6:11), or a depraved temper (Eccl. 7:25; 9:3; 2 Pet. 2:16). David feigned madness (1 Sam. 21:13) at Gath because he "was sore afraid of Achish."

MAD ENOUGH TO PRAY

Do you ever feel that way? Okay you might need to think about that for a minute. But why not use that energy for something useful. A short while ago I received an e-mail form my sister, she was too upset to tell me what was wrong. I called and she told me not one, not two, but 4 family members are in crisis. Now that made me mad, it got me angry. How dare the devil attack my family like that. He does know who he is messing with. We are a family of believers that goes way back.

I was praying in the Spirit while she was speaking. Take your hands off my family. Get thee behind me devil. I refuse to sit quietly by and just let you take a turn at my family. I pray for God’s will to happen in each one of their life’s.

Wait a minute I didn’t say they be healed, I said God’s will. Now hold on what do I mean by that? Don’t I want them healed? Sure I want everyone to be healed, but more importantly I want the will of God to be manifested in their life’s.

And that my dear friend is the big difference of praying what you want and what God wants. We are suppose to pray Thy will be done. And that is not easy for some people. God’s will is always right, but it is not always what you want.

Now when I first started praying I saw one member of the family being healed, saw exactly what was happening inside her body. But not everyone. Why, well I wonder about that sometime, and then I remember it is His will not mine.

Letting go and letting God can be easy or it can be hard. It is a place that we all need to reach in our life’s. A place were we can say Lord I love You so much, I love You enough that I want what You want, not what I want.

I know because I used to not exactly like the will of God. Okay I really didn’t agree with Him a lot of times. But in growing more mature in the Lord and having a one on one relationship with Him, I now want what He wants. Was it easy to get this way. Well I certainly didn’t make it easy for myself. But when I got to a certain place and I said Lord what do You desire for me. Things began to change. And change in a good way. Oh I still don’t get answers I want all the time, but I get the answers that are in agreement with God’s will. And I am okay with the answers I get.

We have all heard that expression God answers all prayers, sometimes He just answers no. Well that is an easy way to simplify it.

What a blessing it is that God has granted us the ability and power to pray for others. It not only blesses them but us as well. People wonder sometimes why it doesn’t always work, this praying for others. Is it because they just don't have the faith to receive the healing or whatever it is we are praying for them?

There are a lot of people who don't believe or just won't pray for others. They have no idea what they are missing.

I have a few questions for you to think on, we will answer them in the next few days. How do you pray correctly? How do you know your prayers are heard? How do you look for answers to what you pray? Does God answer all prayers?

Think about those questions, and if you have a question about prayer, as always just ask and we will answer, according to the Word of God.

God Bless

AGREE OR DISAGREE

DID YOU KNOW?
As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view .. it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?
As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

DID YOU KNOW?
As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall,
right above where the Supreme Court judges sit,
a display of the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?
There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington , D.C.

DID YOU KNOW?
James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" made the following statement:
"We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."

DID YOU KNOW?
Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said:
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ".

DID YOU KNOW?
Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

DID YOU KNOW?
Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

DID YOU KNOW?

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law . an oligarchy
the rule of few over many.

DID YOU KNOW?
The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said:
"Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers."

How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

Lets put it around the world and let the world see and remember what this great country was built on.

I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't. Now it is your turn...
It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to understand why there is such a mess about having the Ten Commandments on display or "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the other 14% to Sit Down and SHUT UP!!!

WORDS OF WISDOM

Basket - There are five different Hebrew words so rendered in the Authorized Version: (1.) A basket (Heb. sal, a twig or osier) for holding bread (Gen. 40:16; Ex. 29:3, 23; Lev. 8:2, 26, 31; Num. 6:15, 17, 19). Sometimes baskets were made of twigs peeled; their manufacture was a recognized trade among the Hebrews.

(2.) That used (Heb. salsilloth') in gathering grapes (Jer. 6:9).

(3.) That in which the first fruits of the harvest were presented, Heb. tene, (Deut. 26:2, 4). It was also used for household purposes. In form it tapered downwards like that called corbis by the Romans.

(4.) A basket (Heb. kelub) having a lid, resembling a bird-cage. It was made of leaves or rushes. The name is also applied to fruit-baskets (Amos 8:1, 2).

(5.) A basket (Heb. dud) for carrying figs (Jer. 24:2), also clay to the brick-yard (R.V., Ps. 81:6), and bulky articles (2 Kings 10:7). This word is also rendered in the Authorized Version "kettle" (1 Sam. 2:14), "caldron" (2 Chr. 35:13), "seething-pot" (Job 41:20).

In the New Testament mention is made of the basket (Gr. kophinos, small "wicker-basket") for the "fragments" in the miracle recorded Mark 6:43, and in that recorded Matt. 15:37 (Gr. spuris, large "rope-basket"); also of the basket in which Paul escaped (Acts 9:25, Gr. spuris; 2 Cor. 11: 33, Gr. sargane, "basket of plaited cords").

A BASKET OF WATER

The story is told of an old man who lived on a farm in the mountains of Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning, Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading from his old worn-out Bible. His grandson who wanted to be just like him tried to imitate him in any way could.

One day the grandson asked, "Papa, I try to read the Bible just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bible do?"

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and said, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring back a basket of water." The boy did as he was told, even though all the water leaked out before he could get back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You will have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was "impossible to carry water in a basket," and he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You can do this. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got far at all. The boy scooped the water and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Papa, it's useless!"

"So you think it is useless?" the old man said. "Look at the basket." The boy looked at the basket and for the first time he realized that the basket looked different. Instead of a dirty old coal basket, it was clean. "Son, that's what happens when you read the Bible. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, it will change you from the inside out." That is the work of God in our lives. To change us from the inside out and to slowly transform us into the image of His son.

"Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly, Leave the Rest to God."

WORDS OF WISDOM

Communion - fellowship with God (Gen. 18:17-33; Ex. 33:9-11; Num. 12:7, 8), between Christ and his people (John 14:23), by the Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14; Phil. 2:1), of believers with one another (Eph. 4:1-6). The Lord's Supper is so called (1 Cor. 10:16, 17), because in it there is fellowship between Christ and his disciples, and of the disciples with one another.

SOURCE: Easton's Bible Dictionary

UNEQUALLY YOKED

2 Corinthians 6:14,15
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

Just what does that scripture mean to you? Farmers will tell you that to put two four footed animals together to pull a plow will not work right unless they are the same kind of animal. You cannot just take any two cows, either. It has to be the same kind of cows. They have to be able to pull together or you will have a big problem plowing your field.

And it is the same in life. Friendships will not work if one wants to go to the art galleries all the time, and the other to the zoo. You have to have some things in common.

It mentions here what concord [harmony, agreement] does Christ have with Belial? Who is Belial first? Belial is a Jewish apocrypha, and also a term used to characterize wicked or worthless. It is most commonly translated from Hebrew to mean worthless, yoke less, may have no rising, or never to rise. Belial is also the demon of lust.

Yeah okay, but can you see Jesus and him reclining at the table over a cool glass of tea and cookies. I don’t think so. Now if Jesus met him on the street He would do as He did with the demon-possessed men that He met in Gergesenes. Or if he came to where Jesus was, Jesus would include him in the conversation and share the word with him. But if old Belial wanted to go out and show off his spirit of lust, Jesus would not go with him.

This is what we mean by unyoked. We are not to hang around with people that do not believe as we do.

After giving your life to Christ was there someone from your past that you really didn’t want to be around anymore. All they want to do is the same old thing you used to do. You want to go to the church social and they want to go to the club. That is unyoked. Maybe even now there is someone in your life that you have grown away from. Break the yoke and set yourself free. You cannot walk in the rain without getting rain on you. You can cover all you want but the water will somehow get on you. You can just as easily pick up the spirits of the world that these people carry on themselves.

This is also true of people who marry. All the love in the world is not going to overcome differences especially in your walk with Christ. It will bring confusion into the relationship from the beginning. What of the children? How do you raise them? This is why all couples should have spiritual counseling before marriage. What God has put together man cannot break apart.

DID YOU KNOW

Quotations - from the Old Testament in the New, which are very numerous, are not made according to any uniform method. When the New Testament was written, the Old was not divided, as it now is, into chapters and verses, and hence such peculiarities as these: When Luke (20:37) refers to Ex. 3:6, he quotes from "Moses at the bush", i.e., the section containing the record of Moses at the bush. So also Mark (2:26) refers to 1 Sam. 21:1-6, in the words, "in the days of Abiathar;" and Paul (Rom. 11:2) refers to 1 Kings ch. 17-19, in the words, "in Elias", i.e., in the portion of the history regarding Elias.

In general, the New Testament writers quote from the Septuagint (q.v.) version of the Old Testament, as it was then in common use among the Jews. But it is noticeable that these quotations are not made in any uniform manner. Sometimes, e.g., the quotation does not agree literally either with the LXX. or the Hebrew text. This occurs in about one hundred instances. Sometimes the LXX. is literally quoted (in about ninety instances), and sometimes it is corrected or altered in the quotations (in over eighty instances).

Quotations are sometimes made also directly from the Hebrew text (Matt. 4:15, 16; John 19:37; 1 Cor. 15:54). Besides the quotations made directly, there are found numberless allusions, more or less distinct, showing that the minds of the New Testament writers were filled with the expressions and ideas as well as historical facts recorded in the Old.

There are in all two hundred and eighty-three direct quotations from the Old Testament in the New, but not one clear and certain case of quotation from the Apocrypha (false, spurious, bad, or heretical)(q.v.).

Besides quotations in the New from the Old Testament, there are in Paul's writings three quotations from certain Greek poets, Acts 17:28; 1 Cor. 15:33; Titus 1:12. These quotations are memorials of his early classical education.

ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS

[In response to Mother’s Day article]

We wrote:
Sarah, with her good intentions gave her handmaid to her husband. What this resulted in is still seen today. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all can be traced back to her. The Christian Messiah was a Jew and came from the Hebrew faith. Hagar, her Arabic servant became a surrogate mother, gave birth to Ishmael, which is where we get followers of Islam. Imagine wanting a child so bad, that you would let another woman give birth for you.

You asked:
Carefully read several times the above passage and then tell me the mental picture you get between the mother child interactions what is the age of the child. If the mental picture is that of a 17 year old child being carried on the shoulder of his mother, being physically placed in the bush, crying like a baby, mother having to give him water to drink, than the Islamic viewpoint is null and void. Why is there no verbal communications between mother and (17 YEAR OLD) child?

Your first question: Tell you the mental picture I get between the mother and child interactions? My mental picture is of two people at a lost of what to say. Not that they did not speak but as nothing is recorded, I believe in my mind it was basically what a normal person would say. Why us, what did we do? We did what was asked of us, and now this why. Yes I can see both of them crying and very distraught. They both had to be on an emotional roller coaster at this point.

What is the age of the child? You figured that one out yourself. Genesis 16:17 Abram was 86 years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram. Genesis 17:24, 25 Tells us that Abram was 99 and Ishmael was 13 when they where circumcised. Genesis 21:4 Abraham was 100 when Isaac was born. According to records we have we can determine that a child was weaned at age 3 to 4, at that time. That would give us an age of between 15 and 17. Not a baby, a child, but not an adult. We also have to take in consideration the time at which this happened, when a life span was much more then a hundred years.
You said: The age of Ishmael at this stage is crucial to the Abrahamic faiths. If he is 17 than the JUDEO/CHRISTIAN point of view about the Abrahamic covenant is correct. This has devastating theological consequences of unimaginable proportions.
This makes the conflict between Ishmael and Isaac and there descendants a work of fiction. I would strongly suggest it is clear cut case of racial discrimination and nothing to do with god almighty. The scribes have deliberately tried to make Isaac the only son and legitimate heir to the throne of Abraham??
Please can you rationally explain this anomaly?

To explain how Isaac is considered the only son we have to look to the scriptures, the same scriptures that we have gotten the rest of our information from. In Genesis 16: 10-12 The Angel of the Lord makes a promise to Hagar about the child she is carrying.
Bible, King James Version
Gen.16 Verses 10 to 16

[10] And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
[11] And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
[12] And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
[13] And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?
[14] Wherefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
[15] And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
[16] And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.

Next we will look at the promise that God made to Abram concerning Ishmael.

Bible, King James Version
Gen.17 Verses 19 to 22

[19] And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
[20] And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
[21] But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
[22] And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

The promise was not to Ishmael because God had told Abraham that He and his wife Sarah would have a child, and that child is to whom the promise was made. Abraham and Sarah acted on their own. they took matters into their own hands. Because Abraham asked the Lord concerning this child [Ishmael] God said that He would also bless him. But the promises to Abraham children did not include Ishmael.

You said: I have asked many persons including my nephews and nieces - unbiased minds with no religious backgrounds but with reasonable command of the English language about this passage and they all agree that the child in the passage is an infant.
AS THE DESCRIPTION OF ISHMAEL IN GENESIS 21:14-21 IS THAT OF AN INFANT IT CAN BE ASSUMED SOMEONE HAS MOVED THIS PASSAGE FROM AN EARLIER PART OF SCRIPTURE!!! AND HAVE GOT THERE KNICKERS IN A TWIST.

Now you will notice that I used the King James Version but also I am including here a number of translations, which you can read for yourself. I am only versed in the English language. In past articles we have explained why we do use the KJV. But first let me give you a description of the CEV that you used.

In translating the CEV, the translators followed three translation principles. They were: The CEV must be understood by people without stumbling in speech, The CEV must be understood by those with little or no comprehension of "Bible" language, and the CEV must be understood by all. The CEV uses gender-sensitive language for humanity and not for the Godhead. The translation also takes care to simplify "Bible" terms into more understandable words and phrases. An example can be found in Exodus 20:14, where the word adultery is translated Be faithful in marriage. The translators have also taken great care to translate the Greek phrase hoi Ioudaioi (literally, "the Jews") as "the Jewish leaders," especially in the Gospel of John (as in John 18:14). The CEV translators believe, along with many (but not all) biblical scholars, that the Greek phrase hoi Ioudaioi in the Gospel of John primarily refers to the Jewish leadership, not to the Jewish people, as a whole. Therefore, their translation as "the Jewish leaders" is intended to increase translation accuracy. One result of this translation decision is a reduction of the perception of Anti-Semitism in the New Testament. Other modern language versions of the Bible include the New Living Translation and the New Century Version.

Because much is lost in these translations that read more as a story, we do not follow their teachings. We might on occasion use them as references, but we hold to the teachings of the King James which can be traced back to before even the Quran was wrote.

14 Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the desert of Beersheba.
15 When the water in the skin was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes.
16 Then she went off and sat down nearby, about a bowshot away, for she thought, "I cannot watch the boy die." And as she sat there nearby, she began to sob.
17 God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.
18 Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation."
19 Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
20 God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an archer.
21 While he was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from Egypt.

14 So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder, and gave her the boy, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15 When the water in the skin was used up, she left the boy under one of the bushes.
16 Then she went and sat down opposite him, about a bowshot away, for she said, "Do not let me see the boy die." And she sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice and wept.
17 God heard the lad crying; and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter with you, Hagar? (Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18 "Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him by the hand, for I will make a great nation of him."

14-16 Abraham got up early the next morning, got some food together and a canteen of water for Hagar, put them on her back and sent her away with the child. She wandered off into the desert of Beersheba. When the water was gone, she left the child under a shrub and went off, fifty yards or so. She said, "I can't watch my son die." As she sat, she broke into sobs.
17-18 Meanwhile, God heard the boy crying. The angel of God called from Heaven to Hagar, "What's wrong, Hagar? Don't be afraid. God has heard the boy and knows the fix he's in. Up now; go get the boy. Hold him tight. I'm going to make of him a great nation."
19 Just then God opened her eyes. She looked. She saw a well of water. She went to it and filled her canteen and gave the boy a long, cool drink.
20-21 God was on the boy's side as he grew up. He lived out in the desert and became a skilled archer. He lived in the Paran wilderness. And his mother got him a wife from Egypt.

14 So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a bottle of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulders, and he sent her and the youth away. And she wandered on [aimlessly] and lost her way in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15 When the water in the bottle was all gone, Hagar caused the youth to lie down under one of the shrubs.
16 Then she went and sat down opposite him a good way off, about a bowshot, for she said, Let me not see the death of the lad. And as she sat down opposite him, he lifted up his voice and wept and she raised her voice and wept.
17 And God heard the voice of the youth, and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven and said to her, What troubles you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the youth where he is.
18 Arise, raise up the youth and support him with your hand, for I intend to make him a great nation.
19 Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the [empty] bottle with water and caused the youth to drink.
20 And God was with the youth, and he developed; and he dwelt in the wilderness and became an archer.

14 So Abraham got up early the next morning, prepared food and a container of water, and strapped them on Hagar’s shoulders. Then he sent her away with their son, and she wandered aimlessly in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15 When the water was gone, she put the boy in the shade of a bush.
16 Then she went and sat down by herself about a hundred yards away. “I don’t want to watch the boy die,” she said, as she burst into tears.

18 Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants.”
19 Then God opened Hagar’s eyes, and she saw a well full of water. She quickly filled her water container and gave the boy a drink.
20 And God was with the boy as he grew up in the wilderness. He became a skillful archer,
21 and he settled in the wilderness of Paran. His mother arranged for him to marry a woman from the land of Egypt.

14 Early the next morning Abraham gave Hagar an animal skin full of water and some bread. Then he put the boy on her shoulder and sent them away. They wandered around in the desert near Beersheba,
15 and after they had run out of water, Hagar put her son under a bush.
16 Then she sat down a long way off, because she could not bear to watch him die. And she cried bitterly.
17 When God heard the boy crying, the angel of God called out to Hagar from heaven and said, "Hagar, why are you worried? Don't be afraid. I have heard your son crying.
18 Help him up and hold his hand, because I will make him the father of a great nation."
19 Then God let her see a well. So she went to the well and filled the skin with water, then gave some to her son.
20-21 God blessed Ishmael, and as the boy grew older, he became an expert with his bow and arrows. He lived in the Paran Desert, and his mother chose an Egyptian woman for him to marry.

Genesis 21:14-21 (Young's Literal Translation)

14 And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and taketh bread, and a bottle of water, and giveth unto Hagar (placing [it] on her shoulder), also the lad, and sendeth her out; and she goeth on, and goeth astray in the wilderness of Beer-Sheba;
15 and the water is consumed from the bottle, and she placeth the lad under one of the shrubs.
16 And she goeth and sitteth by herself over-against, afar off, about a bow-shot, for she said, `Let me not look on the death of the lad;' and she sitteth over-against, and lifteth up her voice, and weepeth.
17 And God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, `What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he [is];
18 rise, lift up the youth, and lay hold on him with thy hand, for a great nation I set him.'
19 And God openeth her eyes, and she seeth a well of water, and she goeth and filleth the bottle [with] water, and causeth the youth to drink;
20 and God is with the youth, and he groweth, and dwelleth in the wilderness, and is an archer;
21 and he dwelleth in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother taketh for him a wife from the land of Egypt.

14 So Abraham got up early in the morning. He took bread and a leather bag of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder. He gave her the boy, and sent her away. She left, and went from place to place in a place where no people live in Beersheba.
15 When the water was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes.
16 Then she sat down as far away from him as an arrow flies. For she said, "Do not let me see the boy die." As she sat there, she cried a loud cry.

In looking at all these translations it is easy to see by only reading the one, that you come to the conclustion you came to. The only version that puts this young man on her shoulders is the CEV. By looking also at the KJV, ESV, YLT, and Darby it is also easy to see that if one reads them without the comma’s they to would read that the young man was on her shoulders. But the comma’s are important.

The only conclustion I can come to is this : Ishmael was between age 15 and 17 and certainly was not a baby, but was considered a child or youth. To also look at she cast him under the bush, I look up the translation of that work cast.

1) to throw, cast, hurl, fling
a) (Hiphil)
1) to throw, cast, throw away, cast off, shed, cast down
2) to cast (lots) (fig)
b) (Hophal)
1) to be thrown, be cast
2) to be cast forth or out
3) to be cast down
4) to be cast (metaph)

The translation from the Hebrew into the English is not clear. I do not believe that she threw him, but in casting put him away from her so that she would not in fact have to watch him die. In Webster’s the definition that came closest to me was: to let go, set loose.

No they did not move it from an earlier part of scripture and the translation that you are reading from is incorrect. Look at this explanation from the Geneva Study Bible.

The 1599 Geneva Study Bible
Chapter 21
21:2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his (a) old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
(a) Therefore the miracle was greater.
21:7 And she said, (b) Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born [him] a son in his old age.
(b) She accuses herself of ingratitude, that she did not believe the angel.
21:9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, (c) mocking.
(c) He derided God's promise made to Isaac which the apostle calls persecution (Galatians 4:29).

Galatians 4
4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

The KJV Strong's Version
21:12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be (d) called.
(d) The promised seed will be from Isaac, and not from Ishmael, (Romans 9:7;
Romans 9 Read This Chapter
9:7
Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

The KJV Strong's Version
Hebrews 11:18).
Hebrews 11 Read This Chapter
11:18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

The KJV Strong's Version
21:13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make (e) a nation, because he [is] thy seed.
(e) The Ishmaelites will come from him.
21:14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave [it] unto Hagar, putting [it] on her shoulder, and the child, and (f) sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
(f) True faith renounces all natural affections to obey God's commandment.
21:17 And God (g) heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he [is].
(g) For his promise sake made to Abraham; and not because the child had discretion and judgment to pray.
21:19 And God (h) opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
(h) Unless God opens our eyes, we can neither see, nor use the means which are before us.
21:20 And God was (i) with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
(i) Concerning outward things God caused him to prosper.

I hope that this has answered your questions. It has certainly been a joy searching the scriptures for the answer. We hope in the days and weeks ahead to actually do a paper on Abraham, Isaac and on Ishmael. Surely the bothers got alone okay, well enough that they buried their father together when Abraham passed away. Not to mention the fact that Isaac’s son Esau married a daughter of Ishmael.

I would like to mention here that both of us encourage everyone continually to read and study the Bible, to ask God to open your eyes to understanding. We must be careful of the translations that we read from. With out a full understanding of the truth, it is quite easy to read this scripture and believe that Ishmael was in fact a baby.

Thank you and God bless

DID YOU KNOW

Serpent, Fiery - (LXX. "deadly," Vulg. "burning"), Num. 21:6, probably the naja haje of Egypt; some swift-springing, deadly snake (Isa. 14:29). After setting out from their encampment at Ezion-gaber, the Israelites entered on a wide sandy desert, which stretches from the mountains of Edom as far as the Persian Gulf. While traversing this region, the people began to murmur and utter loud complaints against Moses. As a punishment, the Lord sent serpents among them, and much people of Israel died. Moses interceded on their behalf, and by divine direction he made a "brazen serpent," and raised it on a pole in the midst of the camp, and all the wounded Israelites who looked on it were at once healed. (Comp. John 3:14, 15.) This "brazen serpent" was preserved by the Israelites till the days of Hezekiah, when it was destroyed (2 Kings 18:4).

THE SNAKE

For those of you who have been with us awhile, I have often written of God’s sense of humor with me. He also when I am ready for bed will lay it on my heart to share something. I get out of bed, put on my slippers and come turn the computer on and start writing.

LJG has gotten use to it by now. She will wake up in the morning to do the site and I have e-mailed something new to her. I love her, without her I am at a lost to put things together.

But tonight God reminded me of the snake. I had written months ago of a week I had where everything was going wrong. Three family members and a best friend lost all within a 2-month period. I hated to hear the phone ring. And when I wrote it I said this is how bad it looked, but I am not even telling you about the snake. Now I am going to tell you about the snake.

I went outside with my four-year-old grandson to hang up a few pieces of clothes on the line. We came back inside, I got the second basket and walked right back to the same spot where my grandson had been standing not 10 minutes before and there was a snake.

I froze in the spot I was in and called for my grandson to walk around and get my hand. We went inside and I got the cordless phone because I wanted to keep an eye on this snake while I got help. The snake after being killed was around 4 feet long and a water moccasin.

What God reminded me of tonight was the snake’s eyes. I can remember it like it was yesterday there was a film over his eyes. That snake was about 2 feet from me when I saw it and it never moved. Not once. IF I would not have known it was not there 10 minutes before I would have thought it dead. It never moved till the man went to kill it. They even were wondering is it dead?

But the eyes had a film over them. He could not see my grandson or I. Those eyes were open, and honestly I don’t know if snakes have eyelids that close, but the eyes were open but unseeing.

That is what it is like to be in the shadow of the Almighty. The enemy cannot see you. And not seeing you he cannot attack. When you look into a shadowy area it is dark, even to you. It is very hard to see not just for you but also for the enemy. But God can see and He is your protection.

When it seems like the worst is coming at you, and you cannot see a way out, you can either stand-alone or stand in His shadow. You still might not know the outcome, but you do know that you are under His protection. You are safe.

God has many promises that He has made to us and one day next week I am going to list some of them for you. We desire that you know what the rights and privileges are of being a Christian. We desire that you be safe under His protection. We cannot promise you a life with no troubles. But we can promise you that Christ will always keep His promises if you keep your eyes on Him.

God Bless
